Toledo man to stand trial for shooting death

A Feb. 11 trial date was scheduled in Lucas County Common Pleas Court for a Toledo man charged with the September shooting death of a 20-year-old man.

Tyler Watson, 23, of 1618 Avondale Ave. is charged with one count each of aggravated murder, murder, and aggravated robbery, all with gun specifications, for the Sept. 8 death of Nicholas Linke, 20. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.

Judge Gary Cook set the 2013 trial date Wednesday.

Authorities said the victim was shot once in the torso. Witnesses said they saw a man get into Mr. Linke’s parked truck in front of a store in the 800 block of Buckeye Street in North Toledo prior to hearing a gunshot.

The victim apparently drove north on North Ontario Street and hit several vehicles before stopping in a front yard in the 1900 block.
