Teen’s murder trial set in girlfriend’s shooting death

A Toledo man charged with the shooting death of his girlfriend, 19, pleaded not guilty in Lucas County Common Pleas Court on Thursday to two alternate counts of murder with gun specifications.

Traquawn Gibson, 18, of 2720 Elm St. was ordered held on $1 million bond. Judge Ruth Ann Franks set a Jan. 28 trial date.

Mr. Gibson had previously appeared before Judge Franks on an unrelated aggravated burglary charge, which is pending. In that case, he had posted a $20,000 bond on Oct. 30.

The shooting occurred Nov. 18. Family of the victim, CreJonnia Bell, has said that she had tried to end her six-month relationship with Mr. Gibson.
