A man accused of shooting to death Wendabi Triplett was arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court today.

Robert F. Carter, 43, of 1143 Belmont Ave., is charged with one count of aggravated murder, for allegedly shooting Ms. Triplett, 41, at about 11 p.m. Monday in the 4400 block of Terrace View Street. Ms. Triplett was pronounced dead just before 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Carter was ordered to be held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $1 million bond. He was arraigned on three additional charges, not related to Monday's shooting.

Ms. Triplett died of multiple gunshot wounds, an autopsy performed today showed.

Dr. Cynthia Beisser said Ms. Triplett was shot in the neck, arms, and abdomen; she declined to say how many times the victim was shot.

For two counts of aggravated menacing he was given an own recognizance bond; a domestic violence case was continued until Thursday.

All three charges stem from a Nov. 5 incident.

According to court documents, Ms. Triplett was at her place of employment, with her three children -- 17, 15, and 21 months -- inside her vehicle.

The 15-year-old boy tried to get out of the vehicle when Carter opened the rear door, but Carter allegedly forced him back into the vehicle. Carter allegedly went to his car, got a gun, and then pointed it at Ms. Triplett's car, according to court records.

There have been 50 homicides in the metro area this year and 38 in the city of Toledo.
