Zmuda wins election as presiding judge

Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Gene Zmuda has been elected the court’s presiding judge by his colleagues for a one-year term.

The presiding judge handles any affidavits of disqualification against a municipal-court judge, assigns judges to serve temporarily in another division of the court, and holds an annual meeting of the judges.

Common Pleas Judge James Bates was elected the 2013 administrative judge for the general trial division. He will be responsible for the court’s operation and for compliance with all rules set forth by the Ohio Supreme Court.
