A Bowling Green State University professor was sentenced Tuesday to seven days in jail for a September drunken-driving incident.

Stanley G. Guidera, 56, of Perrysburg pleaded no contest in Toledo Municipal Court in November to two counts of disorderly conduct and one count each of driving under the influence, failure to stop after an accident, and failure to maintain reasonable control.

In addition to the jail sentence, Judge Michelle Wagner placed him on probation for a year and ordered him to pay court costs.

Mr. Guidera was suspended with pay by BGSU after the Sept. 21 incident in which he struck a Toledo Public Schools resource officer outside Start High School, then tried to flee the scene.

He had been chairman of the university’s department of architecture and environmental design but was stripped of that title in November.

BGSU Spokesman Dave Kielmeyer said Tuesday that Mr. Guidera returned to work Monday “pending the disposition of his criminal cases. The University is evaluating today’s developments.”
