Murder suspect to be evaluated

James M. Day appears Tuesday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

James Millard Day, Sr., 66, of 2519 Auburn Ave., appeared in Lucas County Common Pleas Court Tuesday and was ordered to undergo an evaluation for competency to stand trial.

Day is charged with murder in the Jan. 13 death of Joan Watson.

He appeared with his court-appointed attorney, Tom Tomczak, who requested the evaluation for an anticipated plea of not guilty by reason of insanity.
