A Lucas County judge refused to modify the $125,000 bond she set for Cameo Pettaway, who has been in jail since October after being charged with assaulting his girlfriend.

Common Pleas Judge Stacy Cook on Monday cited the charge’s seriousness and Mr. Pettaway’s record in denying the request from his new attorney, Rebecca West-Estell.

Mr. Pettaway, 23, who was acquitted last year in the aggravated murder of a Springfield Township couple, subsequently was indicted for felonious assault stemming from an Oct. 14 incident with his girlfriend in Oregon. Judge Cook set a new March 12 trial date.
