A Toledo man convicted of fatally shooting a North Toledo man and carjacking a getaway vehicle was sentenced today to life in prison.

Demeko McDaniel, 21, of 209 Courtland Ave., pleaded guilty last month in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to murder and aggravated robbery, both with gun specifications, stemming from the May 22 shooting death of Junior “Pinchy” Francous. McDaniel will be eligible for parole after serving 25 years.

Judge Myron Duhart imposed the prison sentence for the two charges and an unrelated burglary conviction.

Francous, 39, was found dead inside a house in the 1000 block of Bricker Avenue. He had been shot once in the chest and once in the face at close range.
