BOWLING GREEN — The mother of a 3-month-old boy who died last year from abusive head trauma has been found competent to stand trial on a charge of endangering children.

Wood County Common Pleas Judge Robert Pollex issued the ruling Tuesday, based on a report from the Court Diagnostic and Treatment Center, which evaluated Rebecca Steinmiller, 26, of rural Bowling Green. She is charged with failing to seek medical care or alert authorities when she knew her infant son Carter’s arm was broken.

Brian Steinmiller, 31, the baby’s father, is charged with murder, involuntary manslaughter, and four counts of endangering children stemming from the infant’s death.
