FREMONT — A truck driver who crashed into a work area on the Ohio Turnpike killing a Perrysburg man last year pleaded guilty Tuesday to vehicular homicide.

Edward Mills, 54, of Doylestown, Ohio entered the plea in Sandusky County Common Pleas Court before Judge John Dewey. No sentencing date was set, but prosecutors said they would recommend a 60-day jail sentence for the first-degree misdemeanor.

Mr. Mills was westbound on the turnpike near Fremont on Jan. 24, 2012, when his rig entered the closed lanes of a construction area and struck and killed Forest Fletcher, 53. Two other turnpike maintenance workers were injured.
