A Sylvania Township man scheduled to go on trial Monday for murder instead pleaded guilty today to reduced charges in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Charles McCuin, 21, of 4130 Isadore Lane, entered Alford pleas to involuntary manslaughter with a firearms specification and tampering with evidence in the June 10 shooting death of Lasean Robinson, Jr., 29, whose naked body was found in a North Toledo field.

In an Alford plea, a defendant does not admit to committing a crime, but acknowledges evidence is sufficient for a conviction. The court treats it as a guilty plea.

Sitting in for Judge Gene Zmuda, Judge Frederick McDonald accepted his pleas and scheduled sentencing for March 15.

McCuin faces up to 17 years in prison.
