The firm owned by Koray Ergur, shown here in a November appearance at Toledo Municipal Housing Court, was fined for fire code violations at the Spitzer Building.

A company owned by Koray Ergur was found guilty today of fire code violations in the downtown Spitzer Building after a trial in Toledo Housing Court.

Toledo Municipal Court Judge C. Allen McConnell ruled that the owner of the landmark building on Madison Avenue and Huron Streets failed to fix the fire alarm system.

Mr. Ergur, who represented the company in court, was fined $2,000.

Mr. Ergur and his companies last week were ordered by Lucas County Common Pleas Court Judge Gary Cook to pay $863,808 to the Spitzer Building Co. to satisfy foreclosure action taken almost two years ago on the Spitzer building and the nearby Nicholas Building.
