An Oregon man acquitted last year in the deaths of a Springfield Township couple pleaded no contest and was found guilty today of felonious assault for an unrelated incident.

Cameo Pettaway, 23, of 922 Mambrino St., beat up his girlfriend, Sarah Rupert, Oct. 14 at his home.

Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Stacy Cook scheduled sentencing for April 22.

Last July, Pettaway, who is out of jail on bond, was acquitted of aggravated murder by Judge James Bates for lack of evidence in the slayings of Lisa Straub and Johnny Clarke. He made the ruling after a jury heard 3.5 days of testimonty in the case, but before the jury began deliberations.
