Man accused of murder rejects plea agreement

Two weeks before his case was to go to trial, a Toledo man charged with aggravated murder rejected a proposed plea agreement Wednesday in Lucas County Common Pleas court.

Assistant Prosecutor Tim Braun told the court the state was prepared to have Tyler Watson, 23, of 252 Hudson St., plead guilty to murder with a firearm specification and recommend a sentence of 15 years to life in prison plus three years for the gun specification.

Watson declined the offer. He is charged with aggravated murder, murder, and aggravated robbery, each with gun specifications, for the Sept. 8 slaying of Nicholas Linke, 20, of Toledo, who was shot inside a parked truck in front of a carryout in the 800 block of Buckeye Street.

Judge Gary Cook said the case would go to trial as scheduled April 8.
