Sentencing set in securities fraud

BOWLING GREEN — A North Baltimore, Ohio, man who defrauded investors in a company he owned is to be sentenced May 7 by Wood County Common Pleas Judge Robert Pollex.

Jason Schwartz, 39, pleaded no contest and was found guilty recently of two counts of unlawful securities practices.

Schwartz was indicted by a Wood County grand jury in August on charges he raised $120,000 from investors for TLC Genetics, a Bucyrus, Ohio-based company that marketed itself as a full-service supplier of semen for the artificial insemination of swine.

Investigators said he failed to disclose to investors that he was under federal investigation for mortgage fraud and that his prior company owed more than $600,000 in back taxes and had filed for bankruptcy.
