BOWLING GREEN — A Bowling Green man was sentenced Friday to 90 days in jail for a drunken-driving accident in which his friend was killed.

Matthew Nissen, 24, had pleaded guilty in Wood County Common Pleas Court in January to aggravated vehicular homicide and operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol for the June 17 crash in which his passenger, Mitchell Aring, 30, of Pemberville, was killed. The crash occurred on Bloomdale Road in southern Wood County.

Judge Alan Mayberry said Nissen could participate in work release while he is in jail. He also placed him on community control for two years, suspended his driver’s license five years, and ordered him to perform 200 hours of community service.
