A teenager who fired into a group of girls last summer, injuring one, pleaded guilty Monday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to two counts of felonious assault with firearms specifications.

Mecca Canty, 18, of 1812 Brame Place had been scheduled to go to trial on five counts of felonious assault but instead entered into the plea agreement. She is to be sentenced May 9 by Judge Dean Mandros.

Tim Braun, an assistant Lucas County prosecutor, said Canty got out of a sport utility vehicle Sept. 23 and fired six times into a group of five girls on Isherwood Avenue. One girl’s shoulder blade was shattered by the gunfire, he said.
