A longtime Sylvania florist who failed to pay more than $67,000 in sales taxes was placed into a pretrial diversion program Monday by Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Stacy Cook.

Keith H. Brooks, 73, owner of the former Keith H. Brooks Florist, had been charged with grand theft and five counts of failure to remit sales tax for not paying the full amount of taxes due from 2007 to 2011.

Mr. Brooks is to complete the diversion program and pay restitution rather than face criminal prosecution on the charges.
