Broken courthouse window likely original

An etched-glass window in the entrance doors of a Lucas County courtroom broke Tuesday when a court security officer rushed out of the room to respond to a disturbance.

The window outside Common Pleas Judge Stacy Cook’s courtroom, believed to be original to the 1897 courthouse, was secured with cardboard and duct tape after the incident.

Court security said the reported fight outside the courthouse was not serious.

Doug Podiak, the county’s director of facilities, said he hopes to replace the decorative glass with either a replica or a similar piece of glass from elsewhere in the building.
