A Toledo firefighter facing six charges for a Dec. 30 hit-skip traffic crash is to go to trial July 24 in Toledo Municipal Court.

Paul Heiss, 31, is charged with disorderly conduct, driving while intoxicated, failure to stop after an accident, failure to maintain an assured clear distance, starting and backing, and failure to display license plates following a crash on West Sylvania Avenue near Douglas Road.

According to police, the 10-year fire department veteran rear-ended a vehicle, then backed into another vehicle before driving off. An investigating officer who went to his home said she found Mr. Heiss “extremely intoxicated,” according to the complaint.
