DETROIT — A federal judge in Detroit again has rescheduled the trial date for four remaining defendants in a University of Toledo point-shaving case.

The new date is Oct. 29.

The postponement allows lawyers to discuss possible plea deals and handle other matters in the case.

Prosecutors accused two Detroit-area businessmen with providing cash, food, and other gifts to certain athletes to influence basketball and football games from 2004 to 2006.

At least four former Rockets and businessman Mitchell “Ed” Karam have pleaded guilty. The remaining defendants are businessman Ghazi “Gary” Manni and former Toledo basketball players Anton Currie, Kashif Payne, and Keith Triplett.
