Toledoan, 42, pleads 
no contest over threat

A Toledo man who threatened to go on “a nationwide killing spree” after he was denied Social Security disability benefits pleaded no contest and was found guilty Monday of making a terroristic threat.

Darrell Robinson, 42, of 1777 Hamilton St. faces up to three years in prison when he is sentenced July 30 by Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Dean Mandros.

Frank Spryszak, an assistant Lucas County prosecutor, told the court Robinson sent a five-page, handwritten letter to the Social Security Administration office in Toledo on March 27 saying voices in his head were telling him to go on a killing spree.

Robinson, who told Judge Mandros he takes medication for schizophrenia, was evaluated by the Court Diagnostic and Treatment Center and found competent to stand trial.
