FOSTORIA — A man accused of shooting a woman he once planned to marry and killing that woman’s mother appeared in court Thursday.

Calvin Dixson, 37, is charged with aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder and is being held in the Seneca County jail in lieu of $1.5 million bond, according to the county’s clerk of court’s office.

Fostoria police said Mr. Dixson has ties to Perrysburg and Cleveland. Though the suspect was arrested in the latter city, where police said he had been living in a camping trailer, his last-known address, as listed in Fostoria Municipal Court, is 908 Evesham Ave., in Toledo.

Police allege that Mr. Dixson killed Lisa Stowers, 50, who was shot multiple times, and injured her daughter, Tyeesha Ferguson, 36. Her condition was not available. She and Mr. Dixson applied for a marriage license in Lucas County in May, 2012.

Mr. Dixson was arrested Monday by Cleveland police; the shooting was reported at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at 245 Bannister St.
