NAPOLEON — After hearing the final testimony in the case against a former Henry County commissioner Tuesday, visiting Judge Randall Basinger of Putnam County said he would announce his verdict Friday.

Richard Myers, 64, of Liberty Center is on trial in Henry County Common Pleas Court on two counts each of having an unlawful interest in a contract. An investigation by State Auditor Dave Yost’s office resulted in Mr. Myers’ indictment last September on charges he loaned $25,000 of his own money to a specialty car company looking to relocate to Henry County. Mr. Myers then convinced his fellow commissioners to give the company a $300,000 loan without disclosing his own interest.

The company, Revenge Designs Inc., never moved to Henry County and did not repay the loan. County commissioners eventually repaid the loan through its general fund.
