A Toledo man was found guilty of aggravated murder today for shooting his estranged wife to death in front of two of her children on Christmas Eve.

A jury of seven women and five men returned the verdict against Robert F. Carter in Lucas County Common Pleas Court about 1:50 p.m. after only an hour and a half of deliberations.

Carter, 44, of 1143 Belmont Ave., fatally shot Wendabi Triplett, 41, as she got out of her car Dec. 24 in the 4400 block of Terrace View Street to go to a friend’s Christmas party.

Though the defense had argued that prosecutors could not prove it was Carter who fired the shots, Ms. Triplett’s daughter, Keisha Boykin, 18, who was in the car at the time, told the jury she was certain it was Carter.

Judge Myron Duhart scheduled sentencing for Oct. 7.
