A Toledo woman who is charged in the death of her 6-month-old son told Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Frederick McDonald on Friday that she was not interested in any plea agreements that have been offered by prosecutors.

Amanda Bacon, 26, of 504 W. Alexis Rd. reiterated her rejection of two offers by prosecutors: to plead guilty to murder in the December, 2012, death of her son, Avery Glenn Bacon can avoid a more serious charge, or to plead guilty to the more serious charge, aggravated murder, with no recommendation on a sentence.

Michael Bahner, an assistant Lucas County prosecutor, told the court he is prepared to ask for a life sentence without the possibility of parole for Ms. Bacon if she is convicted of aggravated murder. Her trial is set to begin with jury selection Tuesday afternoon.

Prosecutors allege she threw her infant son against a hard surface, causing multiple skull fractures and brain injuries that led to his death.

Ms. Bacon’s defense counsel is expected to argue a man with whom Ms. Bacon was living at the time killed her son.
