Bank robber sentenced to 8 years
2/1/2014A bank robber who has spent much of his life in prison was returned there Friday.
Leon Napier, 60, of 1460 South Ave. was sentenced Friday to eight years in prison by Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Stacy Cook. Napier pleaded no contest Jan. 24 to one count of robbery for holding up KeyBank, 245 N. Superior St., Oct. 4.
His attorney, Meira Zucker, told the court Napier had been in prison from 1987-97 and again from 1997-2013 for robbery convictions. The latest incident, she said, seemed to her to be “an attempt by someone to re-enter the criminal justice system” because of his inability to deal with life outside prison.
