Man sentenced in Monroe plot


MONROE — A Monroe man who tried to hire someone to kill his ex-girlfriend was sentenced Thursday to 180 days in jail and placed on probation for three years.

Thanushan Rajendran, 30, also was ordered by Monroe County Circuit Court Judge Michael Weipert to pay $1,198 in fines and court costs.

Rajendran pleaded guilty Jan. 3 to solicitation to commit a felony for trying to hire an employee of a gas station where Rajendran was manager to kill his ex-girlfriend.
