TCI inmate pleads guilty 
to assaulting guard

An inmate at Toledo Correctional Institution who was caught on videotape assaulting a guard pleaded guilty Tuesday to felonious assault.

Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Ruth Ann Franks scheduled sentencing for April 6 for Marquise Perry, 28, who was serving 22 years in prison for an unrelated voluntary manslaughter conviction from Franklin County when this incident occurred.

Perry, who faces up to eight years in prison, admitted that on Nov. 23, he struck a female corrections officer several times with a closed fist while passing her on a stairwell inside the prison. The guard was knocked unconscious and suffered a concussion.
