A Holland man convicted in two robberies was sentenced Thursday by Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Dean Mandros to eight years in prison.

William Johnson, 25, of 354 Oak View Ct. had pleaded guilty March 31 to two counts of aggravated robbery for holding up Happy’s Pizza, 27 S. Reynolds Rd., on Nov. 20, and for robbing three teenagers Feb. 14 after meeting them at a South Toledo carryout and luring them to a nearby apartment building to smoke marijuana. He used a gun in both robberies.

Johnson’s attorney, Merle Dech, told the court that Johnson was using heroin at the time, had lost his job, and “chose the wrong way to make money.”
