A North Toledo carryout owner is facing 12 charges related to allegedly selling counterfeit hats and shoes.

Fadi Awada, 44, whose address is listed as the store, 702 Bush St., Bush Quick Stop, is charged in Toledo Municipal Court with six counts of trademark counterfeiting, four counts of criminal liability of an organization, and two counts of personal liability of organization conduct. Mr. Awada was arraigned Tuesday and was released from the Lucas County jail on his own recognizance.

Agents from the Ohio Investigative Unit executed a search warrant at the store on April 11 and seized $427.11 and counterfeit accessories, including Major League Baseball and National Football League-branded hats and Nike shoes, valued at about $3,800, said Agent in Charge Raymond Rodriguez.

It’s not clear where the counterfeit items originated. Agent Rodriguez said the investigation started because of complaints about the forged goods. Mr. Awada is due in court for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 21.
