Man accused of fondling boy, 13, held on bond

A Michigan man accused of fondling a boy at a West Toledo hospital remained in the Lucas County jail Monday night.

Dean Elmer, 54, of 6222 S. Dixie Hwy. is accused of going into a Mercy St. Anne Hospital restroom with a 13-year-old boy, pulling down the boy’s pants, and fondling him, according to court documents. An affidavit states the teenager has a mental or physical condition that would impair his ability to respond and that the defendant likely would have known this.

Mr. Elmer, who was a patient at the hospital while the boy was visiting, is charged with gross-sexual imposition, vandalism, and inducing panic. Police allege the suspect kicked out a hospital window in an attempt to flee from police. His bond was set at $100,000.
