A Toledoan, accused of driving his car into a man trying to repossess the vehicle, was arraigned Monday in Toledo Municipal Court.

John Irlam, 48, of 3838 W. Sylvania Ave. is charged with felonious assault. He was ordered to remain in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Wednesday.

According to court records, Larry Brown, who works for National Assets Recovery, went to the Sylvania Avenue address to repossess Mr. Irlam’s vehicle. The victim told the suspect to remove his personal belongings from the car, but instead the suspect allegedly got into the car and drove it into the victim, launching him into the air and onto the hood of the car.

The charge against Mr. Irlam was filed on Friday. Attempts to reach officials at National Assets Recovery were unsuccessful.
