A Toledo man charged with beating his housemate to death then placing his body on a railroad track was found incompetent to stand trial Wednesday.

Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Myron Duhart ordered that Lecorius Reynolds, 34, of 129 Dale St. remain hospitalized at Twin Valley Behavioral Healthcare Hospital in Columbus for the next year.

Mr. Reynolds is charged with alternate counts of murder for the May 2 death of Roy H. Roberts, 51, of the same address.

An autopsy showed that Mr. Roberts died from blunt-force injuries that occurred before his body was struck by a train on the Norfolk Southern tracks just north of the Anthony Wayne Trail.

Jennifer Liptack-Wilson, an assistant Lucas County prosecutor, said Mr. Reynolds was initially evaluated at the Court Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Toledo when Mr. Reynolds was stabilized on his medication. That report concluded he was competent to stand trial.

A second evaluation was conducted after Mr. Reynolds was transferred from the Lucas County jail to Twin Valley because he was refusing to take his medication, she said.

Twin Valley staff found him unable to assist in his defense but concluded that he could be restored to competency within a year, as allowed by law.

Judge Duhart scheduled a hearing in the matter for Aug. 11, 2015.
