A Toledo man charged with twice trying to start a fire at the Toledo Masonic Complex pleaded no contest Tuesday to attempted arson in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Nathan Wietrzykowski, 25, of 650 Pearl St. was found guilty of the fifth-degree felony by Judge Frederick McDonald. An additional count of attempted arson is to be dismissed at his sentencing, which was set for Aug. 26.

Wietrzykowski threw a brick through a window at the Secor Road complex May 21 followed by a Molotov cocktail, which did not break and only caused minor damage.

Patricia Wardrop, an assistant Lucas County prosecutor, said that as part of a plea agreement, Wietrzykowski is to compensate the Toledo Fire Division $4,630 for the runs made to the complex May 21 and on June 2. He also faces up to a year in prison.
