Jonathan Reed’s alleged robbery spree in West Toledo ended with his arrest Saturday, less than 24 hours after the latest robbery at a local store.

Reed, 38, was spotted by a Toledo police crew as he entered Kohl’s in the 4800 block of Monroe Street in West Toledo about 1:10 p.m. He didn’t resist arrest and was taken into custody, police said.

After questioning by detectives, Reed was booked into the Lucas County jail.

About 9:30 p.m. Friday, a robber matching Reed’s description allegedly grabbed cash out of the register drawer at an In & Out Mart at 1619 W. Sylvania Ave. and fled. Police said the man bought a box of candy, lunged over the counter when the drawer opened, and snatched cash. He struggled briefly with the clerk and then with a customer who tried to intervene.

The robber reportedly ran westbound with the money and was seen trying to ditch his blue T-shirt on Brame Place.

Police said fingerprints on the candy were identified as Reed’s.

Authorities allege that since Aug. 20 Reed robbed Monroe Pharmacy, 4122 Monroe St.; Rite Aid, 5765 Secor Rd.; Stop & Go, 2345 W. Laskey Rd., and In & Out Mart, 2125 S. Byrne Rd. using similar methods.

Reed’s address on court documents is listed as 902 W. Alexis Rd. and 3025 Glenn St. When he was booked into the jail, he gave an address in Norfolk, Va.
