COLUMBUS — Judge Robert G. Hart of Fremont Municipal Court has been appointed by Gov. John Kasich to replace Sandusky County Common Pleas Judge Barbara J. Wilson, who died in March.

He was one of three options submitted to Mr. Kasich by the Sandusky County Republican Party.

The move will take effect on June 5. Judge Hart would have to run in next year’s election to hold on to the seat through the rest of Judge Wilson’s unexpired term in 2021.

Judge Hart earned his bachelor’s degree from Loyola University in Chicago and his law degree from the Ohio State University.

Among other recent moves, Mr. Kasich:

● Reappointed former state Sen. Karen Gillmor of Tiffin to the Industrial Commission of Ohio through June 30, 2023.

● Reappointed Dr. Ryan R. Zimmerman of Fremont to the Ohio Livestock Care Standards Board through Jan. 25, 2020.

● Appointed Andrew W. Zucker of Sandusky to the State Dental Board through April 6, 2018.
