"...as human beings we are capable of making sense of situations based on the thinnest slice of experience."

Malcolm Gladwell, author of Blink and The Tipping Point.

ON THE REBOUND: Thin Slices' favorite aging pop tart, Madonna, was apparently making googly-eyes at Alex Rodriguez at a Miami concert. We are not shocked. Can't we go back to watching the puppies? (RL)

DVD PICK OF THE WEEK:: For your consideration ...The Last Picture Show. As bleak and stirring as its black-and-white presentation, The Last Picture Show features a cast of stars -- Jeff Bridges, Cybill Shepherd, Timothy Bottoms, Cloris Leachman, Ben Johnson, Ellen Burstyn, Eileen Brennan, Randy Quaid -- before most were famous. Based on the Larry McMurtry novel and filmed in McMurtry's real-life hometown of Archer City, Texas, The Last Picture Show is the tale of innocence lost, as restless teenagers fall into lust, and small-town America withers in the face of urban migration, set in the fictional yet very real Anarene, Texas, in 1951. PUPPY POWER: We admit this is weird. But who can resist a cute puppy? No one, right? Well, how about watching them doing cute puppy stuff like climbing around on top of each other, romping around and generally behaving like dogs? Check these guys out because they've kicked off a serious Internet phenomenon. Blade columnist Roberta de Boer even thinks, tongue in cheek of course, that City Hall could make some money off this little trick. (RL).

BEAM THIS SUCKER UP: No man cave can be fully outfitted until it has one of these babies in it, front and center. The only thing missing is a pair of pointed ears or a tight-fitting shirt to nervously tug down every time you issue a command. Yours for just $2,000. (KB)

DANCING QUEEN: We have a winner! Hoist the disco ball trophy. Brooke Burke comes out on top in the "Dancing with the Stars" finale. Warren Sapp, who had at one time perfected the sack dance, cound not repeat the magic with dance judges. (KC)

BLONDIES: Reality tv's blondest couple have taken the plunge, reports Entertainment Tonight. Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt of MTV's hit show The Hills wed this past week in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. No friends or family attended the ceremony, but fortunately, US Weekly had photographers on hand. (AS)

MYSTERY SOLVED: Czech model Karolina Kurkova has revealed a missing body part that left fashion show rabble in a lather. The supermodel had plenty left in reserve to take world's Sexiest Woman honors. (KC)

BRIGHT LIGHTS/BOX OFFICE: Summit Entertainment, which released teen vampire romance "Twilight," announced during the weekend that it's going ahead with production of "New Moon." Author Stephenie Meyer recalls the dream that generated the book. (KC)
