Who's America's version of Susan Boyle?

5/26/2009

"...as human beings we are capable of making sense of situations based on the thinnest slice of experience."

Malcolm Gladwell, author of Blink and The Tipping Point.

LOOKING FOR THE NEXT SUSAN BOYLE: USA Today is trying to find an American Susan Boyle -- someone who can sing like a bird whilst living a "normal life" -- who is easily dominating Britain's version of American Idol. We think the folks at USA Today should be careful what they ask for or they're going to be bombarded with videos of folks who only think they can sing like Boyle. Kind of like, um, American Idol. MAYBE IT WAS THE WEATHER: Turns out that the Memorial Day weekend wasn't a box office bonanza for movies, what with Terminator Salvation sucking wind --and getting weak reviews. We don't know about you, but given the pristine weather this weekend here in Toledo, it would be hard to sit around in a theater watching a bunch of androids whack a bunch of humans. (RL)
