What's the scariest movie ever?

9/2/2009

"...as human beings we are capable of making sense of situations based on the thinnest slice of experience."

Malcolm Gladwell, author of Blink and The Tipping Point.

BOO!: It's never too early to start thinking of scary stuff, what with fall just around the corner and Halloween a couple of months away. With that in mind, here's a chance to vote on the top horror movies ever. For our money, the Thin Slices staff considers Halloween the scariest movie ever, followed by The Exorcist. We're betting that Rob Zombie, who's out hustling his new Halloween II has some thoughts on this issue.? (RL)

WEIRDNESS: Is it just us, or does it seem like the people who populate reality TV and TV in general live in some kind of bizarro alternate universe. For example, Kate Gosselin, who is famous for overseeing the break up of her marriage and family on a reality TV show has a gig co-hosting The View. And we ask, why? (RL)

KINDA FUNNY: Actor Julia Stiles spoofs do-gooders like Bono, Gwyneth Paltrow and other greenies. (RL)

A TRAVESTY!!!: So they've crowned Miss Universe and she's from Venezuela. Doesn't this stink of typical human arrogance? For example, what must the Klingons be thinking when we have the chutzpah to declare the most beautiful woman in the universe without even allowing them a contestant? Or the Romulans? Or even the Borg, for that matter. Apologies are required. (RL)

NEVER TOO LATE: No, it's never too late to get "Ready for the Weekend," which Calvin Harris demonstrates with his Humanthesizer. Better keep Kid Rock away from this instrument or nothing will ever get done. (RS)
