Cleveland exhibit offers science lesson
6/6/2010The effects that disease, alcohol, smoking, overeating, and other factors have on the human body are on view at "BODIES ... The Exhibition," which opened yesterday at 340 Euclid Ave. in Cleveland.
The exhibition features more than 200 real human bodies that have been preserved and dissected. The displays gives visitors a look inside the skeletal, muscular, reproductive, respiratory, circulatory, and other systems of the body.

Cities throughout Illinois will host hot air balloon festivals and races this summer, starting with the Ninth Annual Great Galena Balloon Race June 18-20 in northern Illinois.
Other events include: Eyes to the Skies Balloon Festival in Lisle, Ill., in the Chicago area, July 1-5; Great Balloon Race July 23-25 in Galesburg, in northern Illinois; Centralia Balloon Fest Aug. 20 in Centralia, southwest Illinois, and the Lincoln Art and Balloon Festival Aug. 27-29 in Logan County, central Illinois.

Work could begin next year on a $300 million museum and arts center dedicated to Michael Jackson in his hometown, his father and officials in Gary, Ind., announced last week.
The late singer last visited Gary in 2003 to talk about the project, but no progress was made on it before his death last year. His father, Joe Jackson, said Wednesday that he was "just carrying out his legacy" by getting involved.
Gary Mayor Rudy Clay said the project would create thousands of jobs and, when finished, was expected to bring at least 750,000 visitors a year to the city.
The money to build the Jackson Family Museum and Hotel and the Michael Jackson Performing Arts and Cultural Center and Theaters will come from investors and donations, Clay said.
