Judge orders strict care for Lohan

A judge Wednesday ordered Lindsay Lohan to undergo a rigorous outpatient rehab program that will require frequent counseling but will permit the actress to continue working.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elden Fox ordered the actress to undergo psychotherapy and addiction counseling sessions several times a week until November. He also ordered her to submit to random drug and alcohol testing and to continue living in the Los Angeles area.

He said Lohan, 24, could be sent back to jail for up to 30 days if she doesn't comply or if she fails the drug and alcohol screenings.

Fox laid out the terms of the actress' early release from an inpatient rehab center during a 10-minute hearing, which Lohan did not attend.

The judge said he ordered the actress' release at 5 p.m. Tuesday. He also dismissed two drug counts that the actress pleaded guilty to in 2007. He also said Lohan will be taken off supervised probation in November if she complies with his orders, passes all drug and alcohol tests, and does not miss any of her counseling sessions.

Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle says she is humbled and honored by the opportunity to sing for Pope Benedict XVI during his tour of Britain.

The singer will perform hymns and sing with an 800-strong choir at an open-air papal Mass in Glasgow on Sept. 16. Benedict's four-day trip will be the first papal visit to Britain since Pope John Paul II in 1982.

David Letterman will welcome Barbara Walters back to The View next month.

ABC said Wednesday that Letterman, host of CBS' Late Show, will make his first guest appearance on the ABC daytime talk show on Sept. 7. That's the day that co-panelist Walters returns to the air after taking the summer off to recover from open-heart surgery.
