Native history honored

Northwest Ohio's native history will be honored this weekend with the 10th anniversary of They Walked Here Before Us, a Woodland Indian Celebration.

The event Saturday and Sunday will be at the Buttonwood Park/Betty C. Black Recreation area, 27174 Hull Prairie Rd. Gates open at 10 a.m. both days. The festival closes at dusk Saturday and at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Among the featured activities are a performance by Douglas Blue Feather, a Springboro, Ohio, flutist; a children's tent with Native American arts and crafts; a wildlife tent with American birds of prey, and an Indian Village with a lacrosse-double ball field, and flintknapping.

Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors 60 and older, $2 for children between the ages of 5 and 11, and free for children younger than 4.
