'Octomom' checks into rehab

Nadya Suleman, the California single mother of 14 children including octuplets, has entered rehab seeking treatment for anxiety, exhaustion, and stress.

Suleman, 37, dubbed "Octomom" by the media, checked herself into a Southern California treatment center last week. She is expected to be in rehab for 28 days "or more if needed," her manager Gina Rodriguez said in a statement on Tuesday.

During Suleman's treatment, her children, aged 3 to 11, will be cared for by a team of three nannies, two friends, a driver to transport the children to and from school, and security in front of the house all day and night, Rodgriguez said.

Suleman became a media sensation in 2009 after giving birth in Los Angeles to octuplets conceived through in vitro fertilization.

In April, she filed for bankruptcy. She has since starred in a porn film to support her family.

Self-defense

Police in New Mexico say Gene Hackman was acting in self-defense when he slapped a homeless man who had become aggressive toward the Oscar-winning actor and his wife, who have a home in Santa Fe.

The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon in downtown Santa Fe. Police didn't immediately provide any additional details.

NBC adds to lineup

NBC is making room for Community on its midseason schedule, along with a new comedy set in the White House and a dating series produced by former Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria.

Community, which saw its return delayed this season, will air at 8 p.m. Thursdays starting Feb. 7. The Joel McHale comedy will be followed by Parks and Recreation, which moves to a new 8:30 p.m. time slot starting Jan. 17, NBC said Tuesday.

The sitcom 1600 Penn, starring Bill Pullman, Jenna Elfman, and Josh Gad as the first family, will debut at 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 10.

Longoria's Ready for Love begins at 8 p.m. March 31.

Deception, a new murder mystery series starring Meagan Good, Victor Garber, and Tate Donovan, will air at 10 p.m. Jan. 7. Fall drama Revolution, which goes on hiatus after November, will return at 10 p.m. March 25. Also on NBC's 2013 schedule: Betty White's Off Their Rockers, Jan. 8; The Biggest Loser with returning trainer Jillian Michaels, Jan. 6; Smash with guest star Jennifer Hudson, Feb. 5; The Celebrity Apprentice, March 3, and The Voice, with new judges Usher and Shakira, March 25.

Stars to honor teens

Justin Bieber, Emma Stone, Tyra Banks, and Josh Duhamel are honoring teenagers who give back to their communities.

Nickelodeon announced Tuesday that each star will pay tribute to a teen volunteer at the fourth annual TeenNick HALO Awards. It is presented to young people who are "helping and leading others."

Nick Cannon, who created the awards show, will serve as its host and executive producer. It is set to tape Nov. 17 at the Hollywood Palladium and air as a 90-minute special on Nov. 19.

The four honorees come from across the country and range in age from 16 to 19. One started an organization to help outfit low-income teenage girls. Another makes and distributes gift bags for breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
