Elton John, partner welcome 2nd son
1/17/2013Elton John and David Furnish say they have become parents for a second time.
Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John was born Friday in Los Angeles. The infant, born to a surrogate mother, weighs 8 pounds, 4 ounces.
John, who is 65, and 50-year-old Furnish wed in a British civil partnership in 2005 and are parents to 2-year-old Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, born in California in December, 2010, also through a surrogate mother.
Blue returning to WNWO
A veteran Toledo television newsman is returning to the market this month as news director and anchor of WNWO-TV, Channel 24.
Jim Blue will start Jan. 23 as he leaves his job at WFFT in Fort Wayne, Ind., to return to northwest Ohio where he worked at NBC affiliate WNWO from 2002 to 2008. He will anchor the 6 p.m. broadcast.
Blue has been a journalist for 25 years. He came to Toledo from Columbia, S.C., where he had been an anchor for five years, leaving Toledo after five years when his contract was not renewed.
WNWO has been a ratings laggard for years, trailing the CBS and ABC affiliates. It is owned by Barrington Broadcasting.
Record deal for Stevens
The X Factor champ Tate Stevens has signed a record deal.
A Tuesday news release says the Season 2 winner signed a deal with Syco Music/RCA Records Nashville and is already writing and recording his major-label debut in the fall.
The 37-year-old Stevens, of Belton, Mo., won The X Factor last month, earning the title by never finishing worse than second in voting on Simon Cowell's reality singing contest show.
Langdon's new case
Dan Brown's new thriller Inferno, starring his tweedy hero Robert Langdon from The Da Vinci Code, will be published May 14 in hardcover and as an e-book by Doubleday, the publisher announced Tuesday.
In the new novel, Robert Langdon will travel to Italy to investigate Dante's classic literary work, The Inferno.
Detroit 'Roadshow'
The Antiques Roadshow is coming to Detroit in June.
The venerable PBS TV show says it'll embark on an eight-city tour this summer.
Programs taped during the tour will make up the show's 18th broadcast season on PBS.
They'll premiere in January, 2014.
The Detroit stop is set for June 1.
The show features local appraisal events at which some of the nation's top experts offer free evaluations of antiques and collectibles.
Other Antiques Roadshow summer tour venues include Jacksonville, Fla.; Anaheim, Calif., and Baton Rouge, La.
