Riverfront plan to be revealed today

The entrance to Hood Park, which includes a statue of Commodore Perry, is up for renovation alongside Perrysburg's Riverside Park and Orleans Park.

Last month the Perrysburg Planning and Zoning Administrator Brody Walters called me to tell me about this $26 million riverfront project plan that was to be unveiled at the end of July.

I tried to find out everything I could about the plan, including getting a copy of it for our readers. The story, and link to pdf file of the plan is located here.

For those who don't want to click the link but want an update, here is a quick synopsis:

City officials led by Mayor Nelson Evans want to give residents more access to the riverfront. These renovations will include adding a path that connects Hood, Riverside, and Orleans parks, a theater, zip-line and high-ropes courses, bike trails, and two cascading waterfalls from Front Street to the river.

The project would also move the Commodore Perry Statue down the hill at Hood Park so people from downtown can get a better view of the river from the street.
