Several items in reach-in cooler as well as reach-in freezer stored improperly, examples were raw chicken being stored over ready-to-eat foods, also observed raw turkey being stored over pork products. Butcher immediately re-shelved items accordingly. Corrected at time of inspection. A copy of proper food safety and storage will be handed. Walk-in dairy door, as well as walk-in product door kick plate badly damaged and cause severe cutting injury. Contact a professional to repair door so that it can stay intact. Repair loose handle door in reach-in freezer, where frozen pollock was located.

Lam-Pam Enterprises, Inc. DBA: McDonald's, 7228 Dutch, Waterville, inspected Oct. 26. Wet wiping cloths found holding on the wrapped buns and on the front counter surfaces. You may not keep wet wiping cloths out of the sanitizer water when that are not in use due to the absorbency of the towel and the risk of bacteria growth. Licata's Sunoco Sylvania, 4001 Holland-Sylvania, inspected Oct. 25. Found tournados below 135 degrees in the hot holding unit. All time/temperature control for safety foods must be hot held at 135 degrees or higher to prevent bacteria growth. The unit's temperature was turned up at the time of inspection. Fresh Start Diner, 4704 North Detroit, inspected Oct. 17. Cooked sausage cooling in the prep-top cooler. To bacteria growth, all foods must be cooled rapidly. Do not use the prep-top cooler to cool foods. Foods must be properly cooled before storing in the prep-top cooler: two hours to cool from 135 to 70 degrees, then an additional four hours to reach 41 degrees or lower. Use the upright cooler, two-door freezer, or ice bath to cool foods. Leave items uncovered until 41 degrees or lower. Soup cooling completely covered in the upright cooler. To limit bacteria growth, all foods must be cooled rapidly. Covering hot foods prolongs the cooling process. Leave items uncovered until 41 degrees or lower. Inspector: Kerry Stanley.

BP/Barney's Convenience Mart, 6127 Monroe, Sylvania, inspected Oct. 26. Eggs stored over water in the cooler. Eggs must be placed on the bottom shelf in a cooler to protect from cross contamination. Mold buildup inside the ice machine. Empty the ice machine, then clean and sanitize and place on a regular cleaning schedule. The ice machine may not be used until it is emptied, cleaned and sanitized. Note: Facility bags its own ice. Facility does not have a proper ingredients list for each type of doughnut from Bakery Unlimited. Contact Bakery Unlimited for a complete ingredients list for each product. If no ingredients list is available, the doughnuts, cookies, etc from Bakery Unlimited may not be sold . Doughnuts removed from sale at the time of inspection. Hand sink blocked in back room. Do not place dishes to dry on the hand sink. The hand sink must be stocked and available at all times for proper hand washing to occur. Lil' Bitty Diner, 3928 Lagrange, inspected Oct. 17. Food handler changing tasks without washing hands. Facility must increase its hand-washing practices. Food handlers must wash their hands in between tasks, gloves changes, after using the rest room, after touching hair, body, or clothing, or after handling raw meats, shell eggs, or money. Raw shell eggs stored above cooked meatballs in the two-door upright cooler. To prevent cross contamination, store all raw meats and shell eggs below all other food items, then continue to store all raw meats according to the required cooking temperatures.
