War veteran served on Eden boards

NEVADA, Ohio Albert E. Dutch Romich, 82, a retired farmer and a former trustee in Wyandot County s Eden Township, died of a stroke Sunday in the Fairhaven Retirement and Healthcare Community, Upper Sandusky, Ohio.

Mr. Romich, an Eden High School graduate and Army veteran of World War II, was an Eden Township trustee for several terms in the 1970s and 80s.

He also was a member of the Eden school board in the 1950s and a farm bureau council in Wyandott County from the 1950s through the 90s.

People trusted him, his daughter, Patricia Bare, said. He was a hardworking man of good character who had a great personality.

Mr. Romich operated the family farm, growing wheat, corn, and beans for most of his life until retiring in 1992.

In retirement, he enjoyed helping his son work on the family farm, particularly planting and harvesting the crops. He also liked to spend time with his family and golf, Ms. Bare said.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, the former Elladyne Secoy; sons, James and Mark; daughters, Patricia Bare and Deborah Fischer; sister, Ida Mae DeLong; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, where visitation will be after 4 p.m. today.
