George C. Myers, 89, who was treasurer for more than a decade at a Toledo investment securities firm, died Tuesday in St. Luke s Hospital from injuries sustained in a fall at his Maumee home.

He retired in the late 1980s as office manager of the Heather Downs Country Club. Before that, he was assistant secretary-treasurer and controller of the Great Maumee Bay Mercantile & Trading Co. and firm administrator for Thomas Brell & Associates Inc.

Mr. Myers longest affiliation was with the former Roose, Wade & Co., where he was hired as assistant secretary and assistant treasurer in 1963. He was promoted to treasurer in 1965 and became a director of the firm.

He loved working with figures, his wife, Marge, said.

She recognized in him there was potential, his wife said. They were very astute businessmen. That was his foundation.

He returned to Ohio in 1957 as an associate of Raymond Corbo, a Maumee certified public accountant with whom he d been an apprentice.

Mr. Myers was a Toledo Symphony concertgoer and a glass collector. He and his wife visited Germany several times as he researched his family s genealogy. He traced one branch of his family back to the 1600s, his wife said.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Marge Myers, whom he married May 28, 1960; sisters, Mary Davis, Margaret Staney, and Leonilla Broker, and brother, Paul Laudadio.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. April 22 in Historic Church of St. Patrick, of which he was a member. The family will receive friends after 10 a.m. in the church. Arrangements are by the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, Maumee.
