Ex-teacher cooked for church

EDGERTON, Ohio - Naomi Kay Zimmerman, 64, a retired teacher, died Saturday in Community Memorial Hospital, Hicksville, Ohio, of a pulmonary embolism.

Mrs. Zimmerman's teaching career spanned almost 30 years.

Over the years, she taught at Ohio grade schools in Garrettsville, Pioneer, and Bryan.

Most recently, she was a teacher's aide and worked in the printing room for the Bryan City Schools for many years until her retirement in 1995.

"She was nice to children, they respected her, and cooperated," her husband of 37 years, Jerry, said.

Mr. Zimmerman remembered that her former students were always happy to see her when they ran into her in the street or at a grocery store.

A native of Ravenna, Ohio, Mrs. Zimmerman, whose maiden name was Wilhelm, graduated from Southeast High School in Ravenna in 1960 and from Kent State University in 1966, with a bachelor's of science degree in education.

In retirement, Mrs. Zimmerman enjoyed cooking, gardening, and sewing.

Mrs. Zimmerman was a longtime member of the Victory Barn Church near Edgerton, where she helped prepare meals for different church functions.

Surviving are her husband, Jerry; son, Paul; brothers, Tom Wilhelm and Tim Wilhelm; sister, Tina Lemley, and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the Victory Barn Church near Edgerton. The body will be in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, after 2 p.m. today.

The family suggests tributes to the King James Version program of the Gideons International.
